Monday, June 9thEMI Music names Second Life co-founder new VP
EMI Music's newest SVP of Digital Strategy, Cory Ondrejka, on his blog today revealed his frustrations with buying, accessing and listening to music purchased via the web. While Ondrejka's frustrations with DRM music are shared by many, he is in a position to do something about it, as he pledges to work on making digital music experience better for fans and artists alike.
Ondrejka worked as Chief Technology Officer for Linden Labs, co-founding the Second Life website, so he brings a wealth of technical knowledge to his new post. Ondrejko's blog entry calls out to people in the industry who can help him and EMI alike make new breakthrough advancements in digital music industry.
Ondrejko seems particularly proud of his work on blending technology and licensing at Linden, and when former Google CIO Douglas Merrill offered the opportunity at EMI to Ondrejka, he "jumped at the chance."
"The technology is available to make the music experience better. I intend to apply it and to find new ways to drive innovation at EMI Music," Ondrejka said in a prepared statement.
