iPhone 3G already at FCC

Although only just announced, the iPhone 3G is already being approved at the Federal Communications Commission, according to a new filing with the agency. The terse application provides few details but reveals that Apple timed its confidentiality request to begin with the announcement of the device. Test photos and other more detailed information about the device will be kept secret for at least 45 days after the initial submission, putting the full disclosure after the release of the phone on July 11th.

The FCC testing addresses wireless interference and other potential issues with the phone and includes both the cellular link as well as Bluetooth. No new details are revealed beyond what has been officially announced by Apple, though the phone is known to be slightly taller and wider than the original. [via Engadget]

Pricing??

Finally, the single largest reason NOT to get an iPhone is gone: price.

Goes to show you how stupid consumers really are and that the cell companies were right all along.

Let's cut $200 off the price of the phone and then raise the rates $10 per month. Yes, over your 2 year contract the phone is now $40 more than it had been. But the customer sees it as 'cheaper'

Brilliant.
