Thursday, June 12thVerizon to carry Palm Centro tomorrow
Verizon today confirmed that it would carry a custom-branded version of the Palm Centro. The budget smartphone comes in a unique blue color but is largely faithful to the original phone that first appeared on Sprint, including its 3G Internet access through EVDO, a 1.3-megapixel camera, and microSD for storage. Google Maps also comes preloaded on the phone beyond what comes with Palm's own platform.
The carrier makes it a point to price the Centro identically to offerings from AT&T and Sprint and will start selling the Centro tomorrow for $100 after signing both a two-year plan and a $70 rebate. Verizon also notes that the Centro can be used with a $30 monthly smartphone plan that offers unlimited web browsing and e-mail.
