LaCie ships 1TB Little Big Disk Quadra

Storage builder LaCie has announced a new version of its Little Big Disk Quadra, bringing maximum capacity up to 1TB. The Quadra is a portable external hard drive, and comes pre-configured for RAID 0, a move designed to enhance speed. The drive additionally includes USB 2.0, FireWire 400/800 and eSATA interfaces, the middle two enabling power solely through the data bus.

An aluminum case dissipates heat, and inside the drive uses two 2.5-inch disks with a maximum 110MBs burst in eSATA mode, or 80MBs through FireWire. Mac users require Mac OS X 10.2.6 or later, while Windows users must have 2000, XP or Vista; both platforms have access to copies of EMC Retrospect Express. The 1TB Quadra should be shipping today for $660.
