Google intros Mobile App

Looking to push its services across all mobile devices, Google has announced the launch of its first native iPhone Google App that will help users search the web and contacts on their iPhones and iPod touch devices at the same time. The application is meant to make searches faster and more efficient, with suggestions showing up before a word is completed, in similar vein to T9 texting. The app is also able to match recently searched items, like Google's search engine.

The application will also 'learn' the most often used or searched items, bringing them to the top of the results. Context-aware programming was integrated via the included My Location feature to show users searched businesses on a map, closest to their approximate whereabouts. It will also allow quicker access to Gmail and GOOG411, as well as maps, news and more through an Explore shortcut. Expected updates to the software would allow users to search their Apple devices for files, notes and calendar entries, among others.

The Google Mobile App is available for download free of charge via the App Store on iPhones, or via iTunes on the touch. Only the US App Store currently has the application, with Google promising to extend its availability to other countries shortly.

    Google Reader

I wish they had made Google Reader for the iPhone. That app would have rocked.
