30GB Eee PC 900?

ASUS is developing an unexpected revision of the Eee PC 900, data suggests. A product sheet from ASUS' Chinese site makes reference to "Eee PC 900 30G" systems, which not only switch from 12 or 20GB of storage to 30, but also use hard drives instead of flash memory. Black or white Linux systems are said to be available, along with a black-only Windows XP machine.

Specifications are otherwise mostly unchanged, and include 1GB of RAM, 802.11b/g Wi-Fi, and an SD card slot. Notable is that battery life declines from 2.5 hours to 2.2, likely attributable to the increased power demands of disk motors. Pricing should be cheaper than for the 20GB flash Eees however, at 3499 yuan ($513) for Linux models and 3599 ($528) for the Windows variant. No release date has been published.
