Acer Veriton business PC

Acer today announced the release of its Veriton S461 desktop PC aimed at business users. The PC can be had with a choice of Intel processors, including the 3.0GHz Core 2 Duo E8400 or a 2.2GHz Pentium Dual-Core E2200 in the base model. All models get at least 2GB of DDR2 memory, which is expandable to 8GB via three more 2GB memory slots. Graphics performance is handled by the integrated Intel GMA X3100.

The PC's 80GB SATAII hard drive comes preloaded with Acer's LANScope v3.5 application which allows remote access to and management of the PC's functionality via its Gigabit LAN connection. System safety is ensured via Acer's eLock suite that can lock out external storage devices to keep files from being copied as part of the company's Empowering technology that also includes eRecovery, eSettings and ePerformance.

The OS is Windows Vista Business, though Acer provides a Windows XP Professional CD that lets users install the older OS. A dual-layer DVD burner is the only optical drive on offer, while a PCI Express x16, PCI Express x1 and two PCI 2.3 slots provide expansion options.

The Veriton S461 desktop PC is now available, with prices starting at $549.
