Xbox 360 with 60GB HDD on Amazon ahead of schedule

The anticipated 60GB version of the Xbox 360 is now on sale at Amazon.com, ahead of its earlier promised August 4 ship date. While reports were coming in from various stores already having the higher capacity console in stock, Amazon will ship the gaming system anywhere in the country within a few days. The 20GB version of the gaming console is being phased out, with prices dropping to $299 in order to help clear out stock.

Microsoft made the move to the 60GB console in at attempt to let users take advantage of its services that allow them to download TV shows and HD movies. The 60GB Go Pro package include one wireless controller, a headset, component A/V and network cable as well as an Xbox Live Silver subscription.

The Xbox 360 Arcade which does not include any form of HDD Xbox 360 Elite with a 120GB HDD will continue to be offered, priced at $279 and $449, respectively. Amazon lists the price of the new console at $350. [via Crunchgear]
