Motorola Mobile Device CEO

Motorola today established extra groundwork for the anticipated Mobile Devices spin-off by giving the division a new CEO. The American company says it has recruited former Qualcomm chief operating officer Dr. Sanjay Jha to head up the Mobile Devices group and will help structure the frequently struggling cellphone and handheld division until at least its separation from Motorola itself. The doctor will also share the CEO position of the larger company with existing chief Greg Brown until that time.

The communications firm is "confident" that a combination of long-term experience and technical knowledge to improve the Mobile Device section's standing, according to company board chairman David Dorman.

Motorola's executive change comes just as the company reported an unexpected success in the spring after enjoying success from sales of specific phone models as well as more devices with faster 3G cellular data access. The formal breakup of the company isn't expected until 2009 and is meant both to insulate Motorola itself against collapse as well as make it easier to sell off significant parts of the company without offering up the entire business.

    Yep...

Motorola, demonstrating their usual brilliance in furthering their own downfall, decides to hire an ex Qualcomm 'leader' - seeing as how Qualcomm is such a starling company, this seems like a match made in heaven... or rather, a perfect choices, demonstrating really how clueless the Motorola leadership must be.

This is almost too funny, seeing as how I joked a couple of weeks about "all that's needed to complete this comedy is to hire some former Qualcomm stooge, and it'd be perfect".
