Iomega Screenplay TV Link

Iomega on Wednesday unveiled its newest product, the Screenplay TV Link, which allows users to play multimedia content stored on their USB hard disk or flash drives on their standard- or high-definition TVs. The small device connects to the storage media via a USB 2.0 connection, with video outputs that include HDMI, component and composite, as well as an SCART adapter for international applications. The device can also upscale video content to 720p and 1080i HD formats.

The majority of audio and video formats are supported, including MP3, AC3, WAV, WMA, MPEG-1, MPEG-2 (both AVI and VOB) and MPEG-4 in the most popular codecs. The only compatible image format is JPG. For sound playback, composite RCAs and a coaxial or optical connections are included. A full-function remote control lets users control the operation of the Screenplay TV Link.

The device is based on the same technology used in the company's ScreenPlay HD Multimedia drive, which it introduced in April, but instead of including a hard-disk drive, it allows users to connect their own flash drives, NTFS or FAT32 hard drives and Iomega's own REV drives to it.

The Iomega ScreenPlay TV Link is now available in stores and online, with an MSRP of nearly $100.
