Bell gets Katana Eclipse

Unlike previously hinted, Sanyo's Katana Eclipse flip phone will not make its debut at Sprint, but is currently available for purchase at Canadian wireless provider Bell Mobility instead. The stylized dual-band GSM phone's most unique feature is its ability to set different illumination colors for different callers or types of incoming messages. Otherwise, the MP3-capable clamshell features external music controls, has 10MB of internal memory and a microSD card slot for expansion up to 8GB.

The 1-inch external screen provides basic status and caller information, while the 2-inch internal display provides the interface to access Windows Live Messenger and Hotmail. Images and videos can be captured via the 1.3-megapixel camera complete with a self-timer, and Bluetooth 2.0 with EDR allows wireless connection with A2DP headsets and headphones, among other options. Voice dialing is likewise supported.

The Katana Eclipse can be purchased contract-free from Bell for nearly $275 CAD or $50 with a three-year term. The phone should come to Sprint's network in the next few weeks. [via IntoMobile]
