Wednesday, August 13thLogitech V550 Nano mouse gives hang-on clip
Logitech this morning released a new travel mouse that it believes could help further with portability. The V550 Nano is simpler than the VX Nano but comes with a clip that attaches to most surfaces, including notebooks themselves; this eases carrying the mouse even for short room-to-room trips, the company argues. The V550 is also the longest-lasting of any portable mouse from the firm with as much as 18 months of regular use between battery replacements.
As suggested by the name, the new pointer comes with a USB-based mini-receiver which is short enough to remain attached to a notebook while it remains in a bag. The new mouse also isn't part of the VX mouse family but still has the high-speed metal scroll wheel for flipping quickly through large documents; a simple three-button design is the only visible reduction in features versus earlier, more expensive mice.
Logitech plans a quick turnaround from announcement to shipping and will launch the V550 Nano in late August with Mac and Windows PC support for $60.

Umm, no
OK, looking at the site, you actually have to attach a "dock" to the surface of your laptop for this to clip on to. I'm sorry, but no way.......
What's the point?

If it was Bluetooth it wouldn't even need that. Where is the pushback against bluetooth wireless devices coming from? Logitech in particular seems unreasonably hostile to BT.
