OCZ Core Series V2

Sunnyvale-based OCZ on Thursday unveiled new Core Series V2 SATA II 2.5-inch SSD drives, offering users speedy 170 megabyte-per-second read and 98 megabyte-per-second write times, with much larger sizes. The drives represent a continued effort for OCZ to push down the prices of SSDs for mainstream users. While OCZ declines to supply exact prices from its release, it says that the new Core Series V2 drives cost half of what comparable products do, while offering sizes of up to 250GB.

"As SSD technology progresses, OCZ will continue to release updated and enhanced solutions to ensure our customers stay on the leading edge," claimed Ryan Petersen, CEO of OCZ. "The new Core V2 drives offer consumers and system integrators increased capacities up to 250GB, improved read and write performance and faster seek time, all coupled with a new mini USB port empowering customers with the ability to further improve performance and compatibility by updating firmware in the future."

The increased sizes are characterized as a boon for users, since standard SSD drives usually peak anywhere from 64GB to 128GB. A user on YouTube reveals how the original Core Series cold-boots their machine to a fully usable state in 15 seconds, giving some expectations of OCZ's claim of faster speeds.

    For MacBook

Does this mean I'll be able to buy and install or buy and have installed an SSD drive of 128 to 256 GB capacity? If so, what is anyone's guess on the price per GB?
