Arbor intros tablet PC

Taiwan-based Arbor on Tuesday announced the release of its first rugged tablet PC, the Gladius G0710. The tablet sports a 7-inch touchscreen LCD with 1024x600 resolution that is bright enough to be legible in direct sunlight, the company claims, though that is an option. The standard display features an 800x480-pixel resolution. With an Intel Atom CPU rated at between 1.1GHz and 1.86GHz, the Gladius G0710 sports an integrated 2 megapixel camera and microphone. Up to 1GB of RAM will be supported.

When the Gladius G0710 comes to market, it will also support Bluetooth and Gigabit LAN. The company has not announced the capacities of the 1.8-inch hard disk drive, but a USB Disk On Module between 1GB and 4GB is also supported. A single serial port and a pair of USB ports will allow for expandability.

The tablet as earned the US military standard 810F certification for vibration, crash shock and transit drop resistance. Arbor claims the lithium-ion battery pack is rated at 4.5 hours of life.

Neither a release date nor pricing information have been revealed. [via Digitimes]
