Tuesday, August 26thCanon readies photo printer with 1GB memory
Canon's announcements on Tuesday have wrapped up with an unveiling for two new SELPHY hand-portable photo printers. The camera maker's flagship ES3 breaks out from the normal range by holding 1GB of flash memory of its own, giving it just enough room to hold a significant number of favorite shots to print or recover later on. Its screen is also one of the largest for the category at 3.5 inches and promises more accurate color adjustments.
The simpler ES30 shares the same core design as the ES3 but removes the large internal storage, uses a more compact three-inch LCD, and carries 18 templates for image art versus the ES3's 47. Both have automatic image adjustment options and a scroll wheel that frees photographers to make image edits even deep into the print process.
Either of the new SELPHY printers accepts any one of 15 different camera card formats in addition to direct camera printing over PictBridge. The two are scheduled to ship in October and will start at $150 for the ES30 while the ES3's extra storage and screen equate to a $50 price.
