Dell Studio line takes XPS

Dell's XPS line will begin its transition into the Inspiron Studio series later this year, images posted on NotebookReview indicate. The Dell slides show the the XPS 1530 ending in November, with two new notebooks being released around the same time: the Studio XPS 13 and Studio XPS 15. This would confirm reports from earlier this month that Dell will be restructuring its brands, re-introducing the XPS as a trim option in the Inspiron Studio category to consolidate the labels.

Both the Studio XPS 13 and 15 will feature slot-load optical drives, illuminated keyboards, glass floating displays with a RGB LED option, and security provided with webcam facial recognition and fingerprint scan. Both will support Blu-ray drives and provide HDMI ports. The Studio XPS 16 will have a 16:9 aspect ratio display with the option of Full HD.

The charts list November as the end of the line for the current XPS1530, but the XPS 1330 and 1730 models continuing for now. How long the remaining XPS models will exist is unknown, but judging from the changes Dell claimed to be making, replacements for the higher end XPS notebooks are undoubtedly close.
