Panasonic HDTVs with 1TB

Panasonic Japan has revealed specs on its new VIERA PZR900 HDTV line, due out for release in the near future. The plasma TVs include the 42-inch TH-42PZR900, 46-inch TH-45PZR900 and 50-inch TH-50PZR900, all featuring built-in 1TB hard disk drives and YouTube support via their network and Internet compatibility Panasonic calls TV Net. Each TV is capable of 1920x1080 resolution and features a 30,000:1 contrast ratio. The hard drives, in the meantime, allow users to record up to 86 hours of BS digital broadcasts at 24Mbps or 121 hours of terrestrial digital broadcasting at 17Mbps.

Panasonic's VIERA link lets the TVs connect to video surveillance cameras among other devices, and a card reader is built in, allowing users to quickly view the content of their digital cameras and camcorders. All new VIERAs sport more than enough connections, including three HDMI terminals, two FireWire inputs, two D4 inputs, a VGA port as well as an optical audio output and Ethernet jack as the highlights.

Pricing in Japan for the new sets includes an equivalent of about $3,900 for the 42-inch model, $4,400 for the 46-inch model and $5,000 for the 50-inch version. The larger models will be released on September 10, while the 42-inch model is to be released on September 20. [via Impress]
