Fujitsu Amilo Mini Ui 3520
Fujitsu is taking its first steps into the realm of netbooks like the Eee PC and Aspire One, reports indicate. The Amilo Mini Ui 3520 (photo below) is an 8.9-inch system, and relies on a 1.6GHz Atom processor, along with 1GB of RAM. Unlike some other netbooks however, there is said to be no Linux option for its operating system, only Windows XP Home.
It does however come with a choice of a 60GB, 3600rpm hard drive or an 80GB, 4200rpm model, and in all cases sports the rare feature of an ExpressCard slot. Ports also include VGA, USB 2.0 and Ethernet connections, while wireless receivers support Bluetooth and 802.11b/g. A 1.3-megapixel webcam rounds out features. No firm release date has been set, but it is believed to be shipping to Europe sometime during the fall, for about €399 ($586).
Fujitsu has meanwhile announced the M1010, a similarly-formatted netbook, scheduled to ship in Asia by the end of the year.
