Dell: Inspiron 910 ships this week

Dell on Tuesday confirmed it would ship the Inspiron 910 in the next few days, bringing to a head rumors of the ultraportable that has been under vast speculation for some time. While Dell was forthcoming with the release itself, a Dell spokesperson was unable to provide any technical specifications. The spokesperson also panned specifications that were surfacing on technology news sites, saying the information contained was merely "rumors and speculation."

The Inspiron 910 is thought to feature a 1.6GHz Intel Atom, and up to 16GB of solid-state storage capacity. Other specs include up to 1GB of memory, an 8.9-inch screen, an option for WiFi, three USB 2.0 ports, and a webcam. Pricing is expected to sit between $300 and $400, and will feature a flavor of Linux.

Dell's new miniature laptop is the latest competitor to the field, which is already contested by companies such as Acer, HP, Lenovo, and several others.
