Retailer Leaks Zune Prices
The prices for Microsoft's upcoming Zune updates have likely been revealed today through a B&H Photo posting for two of the devices. The New York City retailer now says the 120GB Zune will sell for the same $250 as the 80GB model does today and lists an 8GB flash-based Zune for $150 in a new blue color, exposing it as an updated model rather than just a price cut on the $200 model of today.
The listings reinforce earlier leaks that show Microsoft to be readying just a modest hardware upgrade that will upgrade capacities without noticeably changing prices or physical features. Microsoft has consciously de-emphasized the hardware in an official response to leaks and claims its focus in the fall will be on software additions.
Wal-Mart is separately known to have discontinued both the 4GB and 80GB Zunes, both of which are likely to be phased out with the proposed updates.
Such reports appear just as Apple is about to introduce its iPod updates through a music-related event now officially scheduled for next week. [via Zunerama]
