Nintendo on Tuesday announced it would continue its trend of offering multiple color renditions of its console systems by introducing a Metallic Silver Nintendo DS. Details on the new unit are sparse, but the overall design and functionality is expected to remain unchanged, as with most other product color revisions seen from Nintendo. The Metallic Silver Nintendo DS is due to see store shelves September 7th.
Accompanying the Metallic Silver Nintendo DS is a new advertising campaign, featuring New York native Liv Tyler.
Earlier this year, speculation was abound that Nintendo would launch a new form-factor for the DS at E3, a rumor that Nintendo later denied, then disproved as the expo came and went.

I've been waiting on buying a DS until the silver one came out. The mix-n-match lid colors just don't do it for me.
