Toshiba on Tuesday announced the release of its newest mobile projector, the TLP-X100U. The projector features Toshiba's 3LCD technology to throw up 1024x768-pixel images in a 4:3 aspect ratio. Meant for use in noisy environments such as classrooms, the TLP-X100U has the ability to account for blackboards and other non-white projection surfaces and features an uncommon closed captioning function, also foregoing a speaker for a 3.5mm audio output.
The TLP-X100U is rated at 2,200 ANSI lumens of brightness, and can deliver 600:1 contrast ratios. A digital zoom feature lets users point out and resize images on slides or videos, while an automatic vertical keystone correction function will correct for the projector's positioning at angles of up to 30 degrees from vertical, throwing up a square image.
Inputs include a VGA port which doubles as a component video input, along with an S-video and RCA connections. Audio comes in via a pair of RGB jacks, while output comes by way of a VGA port for video and another 3.5mm stereo jack for audio. A Ethernet network jack is also part of the connections.
Toshiba points out its low weight of 4lbs and compact size about on par with a hardcover novel makes it suitable for carrying to and from classrooms and meetings and includes a carrying case.
The projector is currently available for sale, priced at $839.
