BD300 price, ETA
LG on Wednesday announced more details regarding the launch of its BD300 Blu-Ray/Netflix player. The SRP will be $400, which falls in line with the original company claim of "under $500." Although an exact day was not given, the BD300 will be available from retailers in October. The price compares to the PS3 for a Blu-Ray multi-function player, offering streaming Netflix support instead of gaming capabilities.
The BD300 will play Blu-Ray discs, including Profile 2.0, and upscale standard DVDs to 1080p. Using the Ethernet connection, BD Live content will also be accesible, allowing users to view the web-based extras that include extra video, previews, movie reviews, and games. The special bonus features can even be played PIP with the movie. NetFlix support allows access to 12,000 standard definition movies and TV episodes, free for anyone with a $9 or higher NetFlix account.
Dolby TrueHD and Digital Plus audio formats are supported, and the player can output DTS-HD Advanced digital output to a compatible receiver. Using a USB drive, personal pictures, movies, and music can be played on screen. For users that own other LG A/V equipment, SimpLink allows integrated control from the Blu-Ray player.
