Canon may launch 5D mk II
Canon is expected later this month to unveil an updated EOS 5D Mark II at Photokina, with insiders predicting a 21-megapixel sensor and HD movie capturing, like the recently unveiled Nikon D90. CNET reveals that Canon said it would replace a "long overdue model" of SLR, potentially indicating the three year-old 5D. Some think that the D90-style additions would stray too much from Canon's focus on quality, rather than loading down its camera with extraneous features.
The 5D Mark II is expected to go up against Nikon's D700, and the heavily-rumored Sony full-frame DSLR.
Late last week, alleged specs for the new DSLR were leaked, identifying that Canon would put a DIGIC IV sensor into the camera, which offers enhanced noise management. Canon is also expected to have a "for her" model, potentially in pink.

The pink "for her" model is a joke, and you should be embarrassed for believing, and repeating, it.
No man or woman is going to throw down $3,000 for a upper mid-end camera, plus more for lenses, and be caught carrying a pink camera. There's demand for cameras in different hues, but it's at the low end, point and shoot, not at advanced SLRs.

No kidding! This place (er.. MacNN) used to be a great news source. Now its getting down to the tabloid quality level. Do you guys even read what you regurgitate?
And what is with all the cross posting? 75% of the stories "posted" on MacNN have almost no relevance to those who are interested in Macs. I don't care about a random rumor about a new camera, or that Sprint is releasing some touch screen phone next week. The signal to noise ratio on this "news network" has dropped to an all time low, which is a shame.

21 MP?

I'm doubting that Canon is going to release a full frame pro-sumer camera at 21mp @ $3000 when their flagship 1Ds Mark iii is at 21mp and $7700.
When I owned my 5D it was the 12.8MP to the 16.7 offered in the 1Ds Mark ii with ~$4k difference in cost. Now that I own a Ds Mark iii, I'd be a little miffed that in less than one year after it was available, for $5k less I could get the same capture.
Sure, the 5D isn't pro-body rugged and you need to attach a separate $300 grip and battery booster if you're really serious about shooting, but if it's got Digic 3 processing, a 3" LCD and 21mp, it's going to make the Ds Mark iii overly inflated in price.
I wouldn't think that to be a wise move for Canon.
