iPod 4G Wheel UI Leaked

Apple will revamp its click wheel iPod interface for a second time in as many years to accommodate at least the new tall iPod nano, according to a late leak from Gizmodo. While potentially inaccurate, the shots are unusually detailed and reveal an interface influenced by the iPhone, including icon-like menu items and a tall Now Playing screen with much larger cover art and translucent playback overlays.

It's unclear whether this would be limited to the nano or include an updated iPod classic, which is also believed likely for the event later today.

The news also follows just after a last-minute report which claims the iPod nano will receive a tilt sensor that will potentially adjust the interface based on the orientation of the player itself, suggesting that Apple would need to rework its interface to accommodate the new motion feature.
