Dell warranty for NVIDIA

On its corporate blog on Friday, Dell announced the details of the enhancements to its warranty on the 15 notebook models equipped with the problematic NVIDIA GPUs. Specifically, the company will extend the limited warranty by 12 months for notebooks that are suffering from the overheating problems by the NVIDIA GPU cards only by up to a maximum of 60 months. If buyers purchased an extended 60-month warranty, they will not be eligible for the extension.

The 12-month extension will start on the date that the original warranty expires and this holds true for customers whose notebook warranties are already expired, which means their warranty enhancements will be shorter than one year. The Dell blog points out the enhanced warranty will not be reflected on a user's overall system warranty as it is tied into a specific issue, and is relegated to the 15 models listed on the site. The enhancement and support will apply to users around the world via Dell‘s phone and online support.

The symptoms that signify an affected system include intermittent video issues, multiple images, random characters or lines on the screen and no video.
