ION intros Drum Rocker set

ION on Friday announced the release of the Drum Rocker, a premium drum set for the Rock Band 2 video game. The drum set is fully adjustable and configurable, allowing users to change the set-up of each drum and cymbal in addition to offering accessories. A drum module from third parties will even turn the gaming controller into a professional standalone electronic drum set.

The drum and cymbal pads are velocity sensitive, with hits of differing intensity resulting in corresponding volume levels when playing Rock Band 2. Included with the set-up are two color-assignable cymbal pads that can be mounted in a variety of fashions. The bass drum pedal is made of metal and stays planted on carpeted surfaces thanks to retractable spikes and Velcro strips. ION offers a third cymbal pad, a second foot pedal, a drum throne and the Alesis DM5 sound module as optional extras for the Drum Rocker.

The product has already shipped to customers who pre-ordered it. Priced at $300, it will be available from retailers as well as online for the Xbox 360 in the next few days and ION promises versions for other popular gaming systems are coming over the next few months. In addition, Drum Rocker will work with the original Rock Band and Guitar Hero: World Tour titles.
