BBerry Storm Data Sheet

A sales sheet for the BlackBerry Storm has appeared on Monday and confirms most of the details of the anticipated iPhone rival. True to expectations, the Storm should have both CDMA and GSM to support world roaming as well as a unique touchscreen produces a tactile click when pressed, providing the physical feedback normally absent from touch phones but without using a vibration feedback system as with other attempts at solving the problem.

The first touch BlackBerry will also have Research in Motion's highest-resolution screen "ever" and a 3.2-megapixel camera. Verizon will customize the phone with its own Visual Voice Mail system and should support the phone's GPS for VZ Navigator.

Launch details are absent on the sheet, which primarily contains talking points for staff and isn't directly focused on customers. The Storm is known to be slated for a fall release but may not be released until late in the year following a reported multi-week delay that may put its release into mid-November.

YAWN. Can the real iPhone please come to the front of the copycats? How boring.

    Re: yawn

Yawn! Yet another cell phone article, and yet another "Oh, its no iPhone, go away" comment. Wow, how boring.

Yes, we know the phone isn't an iPhone, because the iPhone is the bestest ever phone ever made in the world, and always will be (until Apple completely destroys it with the next iPhone!).

But do you think you could let other cell phone makers actually release a phone, and then you actually try it, before you criticize it.

And keep in mind that some people may not want to spend $70 a month minimum on a cell phone plan, or want to use someone besides ATT, or, I don't know, actually don't like the iPhone (I know, it is hard to imagine, but it could happen - me, I tried one in the store, but found typing to be more of a "no, not that letter, I wanted THAT letter!" chore).

    Testicular.....

    I mean Testudo....

Do you really think you are going to get the RIM iPhone copycat phone with all services activated and not pay the same $70?

Why can't RIM make a phone that distinguishes itself FROM the iPhone. That is what the first poster is trying to say here.

This is yet another "ME TOO" phone and I laughed so loud when reading the SPEC sheet they will use to try to Endoctrinate their mindless zombie workers in their stores.

With all the phones that are at Verizon, AT&T or Sprint... there are thousands... none of these workers can actually know all the models and know what to suggest to any customer.

Why so many phones? Like the iPhone, why can't these other companies make one or two models that just plain out work.

Why all the gimmicktry with so many phones which all basically do the same thing? It is all smoke and mirrors and the same old snake oil being sold.

Oh, hohoho. How funny. You can make fun of someone's name! Man, you must be at least 12 years old!

    As to your post:

Do you really think you are going to get the RIM iPhone copycat phone with all services activated and not pay the same $70?

Well, maybe, maybe not. But, then again, what if you can't do ATT, Apple's only allowed carrier (hey, who needs more than one carrier? Why not just one! And who needs options like data plans, different phone plans, text plans? Just lump it all in under one big price! Its easier that way!). This will work under Verizon. iPhone won't. Kind of puts an end to the discussion at that point.

Why so many phones? Like the iPhone, why can't these other companies make one or two models that just plain out work.

Maybe, because, people don't want/need phones that try to do "everything". I just need a phone, not an internet appliance, an email machine, a video player, a music player.

And it is amazing when people complain about having choice. Apparently Apple thinks choice is "Do you want 8GB storage or 16GB storage". After that, it's "Let's throw every option in the book in there because someone may need it!".

Why all the gimmicktry with so many phones which all basically do the same thing? It is all smoke and mirrors and the same old snake oil being sold.

Well, then. Why not just dump every phone and everyone should just buy a single model, the iPhone. Life would be better. In fact, lets dump all models of everything. We don't need three MacBook models. One will do! Who needs to choose between Honda, Lexus, or Toyota, and then have to choose a model within there? Just everyone build one or two models, and everyone will be happier!

    But the car...

manufacturer does! Pontiac Vibe = Toyota Matrix and in the past Ford Explorer and Mercury Mountaineer, Ford Mustang and Mercury Capri! Virtually same products, just rebranded and rebadged. Was it not Palm's CEO that said Apple can't just walk into a new industry and put out one product and expect it to be a hit! But they did, and now that same CEO and others are scrambling to have their version. That's fine. What pisses me off is that these "mobile phone type" CEO's had the "talent and could pressure the manufacturers to produce something new. However, we were treated to the same boring phone design, model after model, with the same boring UI, and non ease of use of menus, etc., etc.! It took somebody from outside of the box to restructure everyone's thinking of what things could be.But since they were to comfortable, now they are playing catch up with their "me too" product when they could have been a leader in non conformational thinking and their "1984" phones. Where is that woman with the sledge hammer when you need her!

    I hate marketers

"Theres a big reason for the buzz: we're launching a groundbreaking device that's unlike anything see in the market today "

UNLIKE ANYTHING IN THE MARKET TODAY? What a crock of $hiƄ. This is another iClone. Despite the stupid marketing nonsense, it does look like a nice device. I sure hope they spent all their development time on the software and interface. Since the iPhone arrived, smartphones are all about the software experience now, and Blackberry needs to maintain dominance over the inferior Windows Mobile and try to compete with the IPhone experience, however difficult that may be.

    Look t*******

The reason why its a yawner is because RIM basically called Apple idiots for making a touchscreen phone. Now these morons are doing it too. So yawn.....

    Tsk.

Jeez. Apple is such a copy cat. They came into the market and copied text messages, color screens, GPS, cameras, e-mail, batteries, spell check, redial, call display, speakerphone, address books, calenders, memo pads, applications, speed dial, alarm clock, mp3, volume, and touch screen (yes, even the touch screen... palm) from every other phone manufacturer that existed before them. BUT thank god they had enough courtesy not to steal copy and paste.

Grow up you silly losers. Every idiot with the smallest interest in tech said to themselves over the last 5 years "Wow, soon our phones, cameras and mp3 players are going to be in one product with a touchscreen". It was an inevitable transition. Nobody is copying apple, they are going with the flow of the industry. Ya, apple came out with a good product that set a new bar in some respects, but maintaining that flow isn't copying, the same way adding a color screen 5 years ago wasn't.

I've never seen a group of people that hated choice so much. You truly are brainwashed morons. I can go out tomorrow and buy an iphone, or the bold, or a RAZR and I love that I have that choice. Only someone that lacked any intellect whatsoever would prefer a world with only one choice... and its probably because you couldn't make one if Steve Jobs and his marketing monkeys didn't shove it down your throat.

    Good luck.
