Abaco computers has announced its latest desktop PC, the Desktop Dual, featuring Intel's Atom Dual Core processor. The new Atom chip runs at 1.6GHz, with a 1MB cache, and reported power consumption of only eight watts. The system runs the Ubuntu Linux 8.04 operating system and offers a 250GB 7200RPM hard drive. Abaco claims the Desktop Dual runs without extreme heat or noise.

Input/output connections included network, serial, parallel, and six USB ports. The Desktop Dual is set for availability on September 19 for €350 (~$500 USD).
