Tosh Tecra A10 and M10

Toshiba today slipped out US editions of two of its pro-oriented notebooks. The 15.4-inch Tecra A10 and its 14-inch M10 sibling both bring Intel's Centrino 2 platform to the line and start off with a minimum 2.26GHz Core 2 Duo, 802.11n Wi-Fi and Quadro NVS 150M dedicated graphics that give Vista and 3D rendering tasks a boost.

Either also has similar upgrade options that ramp up the PCs to a 2.53GHz Core 2 Duo, 4GB of RAM and up to a 128GB solid-state drive for when performance trumps sheer capacity. Both carry 1280x800 displays that can be upgraded to 1440x900 on the M10 and 1680x1050 on the A10.

A decision to start the systems on just 1GB of RAM and a 120GB hard drive keeps the pricing low. Base A10s start at $1,149, while the smaller screen lifts the M10 to $1,179. All of the new Tecras are available to custom-order today and should be shipping sometime in the near future.
