Pretec 100GB CF Card
Pretec today said it has reached a new limit in flash storage with the launch of two CompactFlash cards. Its 64GB and 100GB cards have the most capacity ever and are designed for photo and video professionals who need exceptionally large room for RAW photos or uncompressed digital video. Both are also relatively fast at 233X and transfer at up to 35MB per second, rendering either fast enough for burst shots.
Multiple 64GB cards can also be merged into a single 256GB solid-state drive for comuputers using a unique Parallel/Serial ATA controller approach. Speed-focused photographers further have access to new 32GB and 50GB CompactFlash cards that run at the company's already achieved 333X, or the equivalent of 50MB per second.
Pretec is silent on when the 100GB card will be available but promises the 64GB card is shipping today for $399. The faster 32GB card is also shipping for $630 but has yet to be accompanied by launch information for the 50GB model.
