Dell launches 7609WU HD DLP projector

Dell recently and quietly launched its 7609WU DLP projector, which is capable of creating 1920x1200 native resolution images with a 16:10 aspect ratio. Its 2700:1 contrast ratio and 3,850 lumens brightness help to make the projected images legible in lit rooms, such as during presentations. The projector can be mounted on desktop or ceilings, and supports both front and rear projection configurations, and is capable of creating images up to 301 inches in size.

Picture-in-Picture and Picture-by-Picture viewing of multiple channels or sources simultaneously is part of the feature-set, and closed captioning is likewise supported.

The 7609WU offers an Ethernet jack for connecting with networks, while video connections include two HDMI inputs, two VGA inputs, as well as a single S-video, DisplayPort, composite and RS232 serial ports. Audio input for the pair of 5W speakers and output comes via a 3.5mm stereo jack. A 12V output for triggering a motorized projection screen is present, along with a 5V output to power external devices such as a wireless module. A fully functional remote control with an integrated laser pointer is included.

The 300W lamp’s rated life of 2,000 hours can be extended to 2,500 hours in Eco mode at the cost of brightness and picture quality.

Currently available on Dell’s web store, the 7609WU is priced at $4,999.
