Klipsch Icon V speakers

Klipsch has debuted a new line of speakers, the Icon V series, born out of collaboration with Best Buy. The new speakers include the VF-35 and VF-36 floorstanders, VB-15 bookshelf, VC-25 center channel, and VS-14 surround models. The slim solid black cabinets and simple exterior give the speakers an understated aesthetic appearance. The new X-Tractrix tweeters are claimed to offer a smoother dispersion pattern and wide sound presentation, while still horn-loaded for use with standard A/V receivers.

The VF-36 floorstandinng speaker offers a one inch aluminum dome tweeter mounted in a 6 inch XT horn, and three 6.5 inch fiber-composite cone woofers with the crossover signal separated at 1780 Hz. Frequency response was listed as 36Hz to 23KHz +/- 3dB with a power handling of 150 Watts continuous or 600 Watts peak. The VF-35 offers a similar design, in a slightly smaller package, with three 5.25 inch woofers that support a 100 Watt continuous or 400 Watt peak power and a frequency response of 41Hz to 23KHz.

The VB-15 bookshelf unit integrates a single 5.25 inch woofer, with a one inch tweeter mounted in a 4.5 inch horn. The single woofer setup lowers the frequency response to 59 Hz to 22KHz with 75 Watts continuous and 300 Watts peak power handling.

The VC-25 center channel speaker includes two 5.25 inch woofers flanking the center tweeter horn. The power handling matches the VB-25, but with a slightly lower response of 77Hz to 23KHz. The VS-14 surround speakers are designed to offer the widest sound presentation, using one 4.5 inch cone and two tweeter horns mounted in separate directions.

The Icon V Series will be available exclusively from Best Buy, priced at $950/pair for the VF-36, $750 for the VF-35, $300 for the VB-15, $330 for the VS-14, or one VC025 for $280. The pricepoints can be considered entry level for Klipsch, a company that makes speakers for multiple ten thousand dollar range, although the specs of the Icon V series match some of their speakers priced slightly higher.
