Flip Video and CafePress offer custom designs

Flip Video on Tuesday announced a partnership with CafePress to offer customers a no-cost option of creating their own exterior color designs for Flip's Flip Mino camcorder. CafePress, which specializes in selling custom designs on products ranging from to coffee mugs to t-shirts, will allow users to create, share and sell designs for the camera. Users who upload their designs can then earn commissions for themselves based on sales, or donate them to non-profit causes.

Aside from custom work, people will also be able to choose from thousands of existing designs by artists, design firms and celebrities. Customization is handled through Flip's Pattern Generator design engine.

The Flip Mino is a simple camcorder, meant for recording videos to be uploaded to sharing services such as YouTube. It has an internal rechargeable battery, and 2GB of on-board memory that stores up to 60 minutes of 640x480, 30fps video. It is compatible with both Windows programs and Apple's Mac video applications, including QuickTime, iMovie and iDVD. The Flip Mino is priced at $180.
