Nikon MX format unveil?

The ongoing and recent rumors regarding a new format from Nikon are about to come to an end, according to a Monday report from a Dutch website that says an announcement is due for October 22nd. The new product will be revealed at renowned Danish photographer Steen Evald's studio in Copenhagen, and members of the press will be invited.

An invitation to the event provided the details, but what exactly will be unveiled in unkown. The rumored MX format from Nikon is believed to either be larger than the company's existing full-frame FX format or simply upgrade the existing D3 and D3x DSLRs to a sensor with 25 megapixels, effectively doubling its resolution.

Nikon's product specialist, Thomas Lorenzen, will be on-hand at the studio in just over a week's time to introduce the new product to the press.
