POD Studio and Farm

Line 6 has unveiled a new series of USB recording interfaces, the POD Studio family, and two recording plug-ins, POD Farm and POD Farm Platinum. The POD Studio series of devices offers 44.1/48KHz, 16/24-bit recording for guitars. The entry-level GX model features a basic 1/4-inch input; the UX1 offers one 1/4-inch input, balanced XLR input with preamp, and two 1/4-inch analog outputs. The high-end UX2 model features two 1/4 inch inputs (one normal, one pad), two XLR inputs with preamps and phantom power, S/PDIF digital output, and a pair of assignable VU meters.

The POD Farm plug-ins provide the sounds of various amps. The basic Farm set includes models of 18 guitar amps, 24 guitar cabs, five bass amps and five bass cabs, in addition to 29 stompbox and studio effects, plus six mic preamp models. Farm Platinum includes models for 78 guitar amps, 24 guitar cabs, 28 bass amps and 22 bass cabs. Almost 100 stompbox and studio effects are provided, though mic preamp models are once again limited to six.

Users can browse through the gear with a carousel-style browser. A specific model can be dragged and dropped into the signal flow, before or after amplification. Each model is also fully adjustable, with presets provided for convenience.

The POD Studio GX retails for $140, while the UX1 commands $210, and the UX2 can be had for $280. Each POD Studio interface comes with POD Farm, which can be purchased separately for $140, or in the Platinum version for $300. Plug-ins come in AU, RTAS and VST formats.
