Eee PC S101 coming Nov 1

News about ASUS' Eee PC S101 reported earlier this month was updated today, with the company pricing the new, stylish netbook and releasing a definitive US ship date. The S101 will be priced at $699 when it hits store shelves on November 1st. It will include a new slimmed down body that measures just 0.75 inches thick and is accented with other dress-ups. The specs include a 1.6GHz Atom CPU along with 1GB of RAM, both standard fare for netbooks. The 10.2-inch netbook's LED screen has a 1024x600 resolution.

The notebook will have 802.11n Wi-Fi module built-in, along with Bluetooth 2.0 and a multi-card reader. Users will interface via a multi-touch pad, while a VGA webcam will allow them to video conference. Onboard storage will be comprised of a combination of both a 30GB hard disk drive and 16GB solid-state drive: a first in the netbook business.

ASUS will not give users a Linux option for the S101, only offering it with Windows XP. Weight is rated at 2.3 pounds, while battery life is rated at an optimistic 5.4 hours.

The netbook will be available in copper brown and graphite colors. [via Engadget]

    Too expensive

They must be out of their mind. With a ATOM and WSVGA (1024x600) they want so much???

At this price might as well go get a sony for few hundred dollars more or get a 14.1 laptop.
