HP Mini-Note 1000 Teaser
HP today dropped a hint as to its future netbook direction through its shopping home page by posting a teaser graphic for the Mini-Note 1000. An ordinary version of the Vivienne Tam Edition, the system should have the same 10-inch display as the designer netbook but with a more conventional black exterior. Despite the larger size than the 8.9-inch Mini-Note 2133, the system should also be lighter at less than 2.3 pounds and will still measure less than one inch thick.
A webcam and custom media software are also visible on the system.
Other details of the 1000 are still unknown, such as any potential switch in processors. HP is using Intel's Atom for the Vivienne Tam Edition and is likely to use the same for the regular Mini-Note version, though one recent rumor has the PC builder using VIA Nanos instead. HP's teaser nonetheless confirms relatively low pricing of $400 for a base model and suggests the 2133 will see a price drop or phase out altogether. [via jkOnTheRun]
