Firefox hits 20% usage
Firefox now boasts 20 percent global market share, according to a new document published by Net Applications, showing the spike during October. ReadWriteWeb reports that the Mozilla-developed web browser has seen a recent surge in possibility due to users seeking asylum from Internet Explorer's notoriously insecure nature. Firefox is facing increasing pressure in the web market, both from Apple and Microsoft, but also from newer competitors, such as Google's Chrome.
The prime focus for web browsers currently is JavaScript; the backbone of Web 2.0 apps, and many other modern implementations. Mozilla announced recently it would replace its existing Javascript engine with < TraceMonkey, which looks to improve operations within the application by 20 to 40 percent.
