Epson PowerLite HC 700

Epson today rolled out a late entry into HD projectors. The PowerLite Home Cinema 700 is claimed as the first 720p projector to crack the $800 mark and comes one dollar under while still carrying much of the expected feature set of otherwise very high-end units. The lamp in the 3LCD unit outputs at 2,000 lumens and comes with a 1.2X zoom lens that can throw an image as large as 270 inches and as far as 28.6 feet away.

Despite the Home Cinema title, the 700 is positioned as a computer projector as well and takes PC input directly through a VGA adapter in addition to the HDMI, RCA and S-video jacks for home theater sources. An SD card slot and a USB port give it room to display photos or full presentations from removable storage.

The introductory PowerLite should last for up to 4,000 hours on a single lamp and is designed to be used almost instantly rather than requiring the warm-up or cool-down times that affect most projectors. Epson says the 700 should be available today.

    Nice

There may be better out there, but all of the sub-$1000 projectors I have used carried the Epson name. And each one worked very well.
