TomTom GO 630 GPS

A new TomTom personal navigation device, the GO 630 GPS, is available exclusively at electronics retail chain Radio Shack. The device features complete map coverage of the US and Canada, along with compatibility with TomTom's MapShare software that lets users update or customize their own maps or download ones from other users via TomTom HOME. This access also lets users get traffic updates on their PCs.

Users interface via a 4.3-inch widescreen LCD touchscreen, and the GO 630 will speak out street names, and double as a hands-free cellphone aid thanks to its Bluetooth support. At the same time, users can speak their destinations instead of input them by hand. TomTom's IQ Routes feature is part of the specs as well, basing arrival times on the actual average speed on a trip and not the speed limits. An Advanced Lane Guidance feature will tell users which lane they need to be in to make their exits safely on interstates.

The TomTom GO 630 is available now, priced at nearly $400, or the same as TomTom's GO 720 navigator, which has many of the same features. The GO 630 claims a brighter screen and a longer windshield mount as its chief advantages.
