BenQ MP624 projector

In Japan, BenQ announced the upcoming release of its MP624 DLP projector with 1024x768 resolution and 2500:1 contrast ratio along with a 3,000 lumens brightness level. BenQ foresees the MP624 will be used for business presentations or home entertainment use. It uses a 0.55-inch DLP chip and a 200W lamp with a life rating of 4,000 hours.

For color reproduction, the MP624 uses a six-segment color wheel that includes yellow and cyan segments in addition to the usual RGB and white segments. A 54-inch screen can be thrown up on surfaces that include blackboards and five other non-white surfaces from six feet away thank to a 1.1x zoom lens. Maximum screen size is fixed at 300 inches.

Input connections include an HDMI port, VGA port, S-video and composite video. For sound delivery, a 2W mono speaker is built in. Security features include a timer and password protection.

Available in a piano black finish exclusively, the MP624 is due for a launch in Japan late in November, priced at about $1,040. [via Impress]
