Kodak sues LG, Samsung over camera tech

Kodak late Monday filed a lawsuit against LG and Samsung, accusing the two Korean companies of infringing on digital photography patents. The complaint, filed in a Western District court in Kodak's home state of New York, charges both LG and Samsung with copying Kodak techniques for capturing, compressing, previewing and storing photos and still images.

The suit looks to impose an injunction that would prevent either of the foreign camera makers from producing and selling cameras that violate the patents and also seeks damages for alleged lost business.

Both of the targets of the lawsuit have already said they will contest the suit. Neither has been willing to comment on the nature of the suit, but Samsung has argued that it respects intellectual property law and specifically forbids infringement within the company.
