HTC Touch Pro at Verizon

Verizon today became the late entry among carriers with its own version of the HTC Touch Pro. Similar to the versions from Alltel and Sprint, the touchscreen QWERTY slider phone adds a customized front end with a special Verizon portal for third-party apps, VZ Navigator for the phone's built-in GPS and support for tethering on an appropriate data plan.

The Windows Mobile device is a functional match to other versions with a 3.2-megapixel camera, 3G, Wi-Fi and its signature 640x480, 2.8-inch touch display. Storage is again provided both by 512MB of onboard memory as well as a microSDHC slot.

Verizon has yet to officially announce the Touch Pro but lists it as selling for $350 on a two-year contract and after including a rebate; month-to-month pricing lifts the price to $540. Posting online usually suggests immediate availability at retail but has yet to be confirmed. [via Engadget]

    RAM drop

Unlike the touch pro available elsewhere, Verizon's is crippled. It has 128MB of RAM rather than 288MB. So it costs more and you get less. Awesome!
