Dell Mini 9 Gets 3G

Dell today rolled out a pair of build-to-order options to give the Inspiron Mini 9 features previously only available outside the US. A new 3G option during the customization process installs a 7.2Mbps HSPA card that provides cellular broadband on AT&T's network in the US as well as supporting foreign networks. The feature costs $125 but receives an immediate $120 discount if the Mini 9 is bought alongside a two-year data plan, Dell says.

Upgrades are available immediately but are limited to Windows XP systems due to driver support.

All systems now also have the option of a 32GB solid-state drive. The option costs $100 above the base price of a 4GB model and gives storage more closely resembling a rotating hard drive with the performance and skip resistance of flash memory.

Every build option is available today and follows on the heels of custom lid artwork options added last week.
