iRiver E100 Season 2

iRiver on Thursday introduced a low-key update to its basic media player lineup through the E100 Season 2. The new players are primarily a visual change and switch from the monotone colors of the original to orange-on-silver, silver-on-orange and white-and-orange color schemes. The Korea-made player is otherwise similar but shares the same uncommon features, including a rear set of stereo speakers and a microSD card slot for loading up extra music beyond the internal flash.

It also continues to support FLAC, OGG and XviD as its more unusual audio and video formats and brings FM radio with recording support as well as separate line-in recording.

In its home territory, the Season 2 update will ship in 2GB, 4GB and 8GB versions with comparatively high quality in-ear buds as standard. iRiver already sells the original E100 within the US but would potentially have to adjust pricing from the $110 and $160 4GB and 8GB models available today.
