iPhone apps: Weightbot, aSleep, Vision

BreathPacer, iSteps


  • Weightbot ($4) is a weight tracking application for the iPhone and iPod touch. Users can set goals, record their weight and then track their progress over time. Progress can be viewed in a graph form that can be plotted by days, weeks, months or years. Users who would rather keep this information private can also choose to add a numeric password to keep the data safe.

  • aSleep ($1) contains a series of relaxing tracks based on the sounds of nature and elegant melodies that can help with sleep induction, meditation, yoga or stress relief. The app features 50 high quality stereo sounds, adjustable volume and a settable timer and alarm.

  • Vision ($2) provides users with a series of eye exercises that help keep eyes healthy and can help minimize eyestrain. The app also contains a series of optical illusions including stereograms, an illusion of depth created from a single flat, two-dimensional image and stereo pairs, an optical illusion of depth created from a pair of two-dimensional images.

  • BreathPacer ($3) is an application designed to help users get into the habit of better breathing for relaxation and increased health. The app features smoothly animated visual breathing cues and soothing rain sounds that help direct a users inhales and exhales. The application also includes a breathing timer that lets users set how long they want to breath for and the option to gradually reduce the breathing rate over the course of a session.

  • iSteps ($3) is a pedometer that uses the accelerometer inside the iPhone to track steps while walking. The app can also calculate distance, speed and total calories burned. Users can set up a personal profile in the application by entering their height, weight and choosing how they want their results to be displayed. They hit the start button when they are ready to go and stop when they are done their walk.
