i-mate intros Go for WinMo

i-mate, maker of the Ultimate brand of smartphones, has recently announced it is launching the i-mate Go interface for its Windows Mobile 6.1-powered offerings. Based on the VITO Winterface, i-mate Go brings Windows Mobile users with touch-screen devices an iPhone-like interface, with large, square virtual buttons acting as shortcuts to launch popular applications. Users can customize the icons, selecting the most-often used applications to pop up on the main screen.

The free-to-download i-mate Go is currently available and compatible with i-mate's Ultimate 9502, Ultimate 8502, Ultimate 8150, Ultimate 6150 and JAMA 101. The 8150 and 6150 do not currently run Windows Mobile 6.1, but i-mate promises it is coming very shortly.

The new front end joins a number of increasingly popular custom interfaces meant to simplify the otherwise complex home screen and apps for Windows Mobile, including HTC’s TouchFLO 3D in the Touch Diamond and Touch Pro handsets as well as the panels in the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1.
