iRiver to release E50 PMP

Portable electronics maker iRiver is set to release a new digital multimedia player, to be called the E50. With very similar if not identical features and file support to the company's E100 player, the main difference between the two seems to be the E50's sturdier brushed aluminum body. The E50 will be available in 2GB, 4GB or 8GB capacities and features a 1.8-inch, 262K color screen with a 176x220 resolution.

The E50 also integrates an FM tuner and recorder, along with a microphone for voice recording. It also has 10 equalizer presets for enhancing various music genres. Supported music formats include MP3, OGG, FLAC, WAV and WMA, along with SMV video files and JPEG, BMP and GIF photos. Battery life is rated at a long 52 hours when audio files are playing. Connecting to PCs and to charge the battery is via a USB 2.0 port.

The E50 is due for a release in January, with the 4GB version priced at the equivalent of nearly $90. [via GenerationMP3]
