HP dv6 Leak

A leak posted today by retailer J&R has unintentionally revealed a new 16-inch media center notebook from HP. The Pavilion dv6 would have a similar 16:9 ratio display to the earlier HDX16t but would have the chromed look of the current dv line and slightly lower performance to drop the price. A base model would start at just $800 and would carry a 2GHz Core 2 Duo and basic GMA 4500MHD video. The system would nonetheless have 4GB of memory, a 320GB hard drive and 802.11n Wi-Fi as standard.

A higher-end model at $1,050 should step up to a 2.13GHz Core 2 Duo, a dedicated but simple GeForce 9200M GS for video and a 400GB hard drive. An ExpressCard/54 slot with a similarly-sized media remote is also expected.

No clues are given as to when either model will be available, though the leak appears just a few weeks before the Consumer Electronics Show, which often hosts multiple computer-related announcements from HP. It's also unknown whether the system will directly replace the dv5 or complement the earlier, 15.4-inch PC. [via Engadget]
